Operations Centre Public Open House

It's not every day the District of Sechelt gets a new building to showcase. The public is invited to come and tour our new Operations Centre. The "Ops Centre" houses the District's Public Works and Parks departments.
All are welcome to visit this fabulous new facility, meet staff, chat with Council and even learn how to put together a fall planter.
Date: Thursday, October 12.
Time: 2-4 p.m.

My thanks to the Sechelt Community Associations Forum for their Water Survey results outlining, among other things, the urgent need for better communications on our water supply situation.
I agree with that key finding – communications is very, very important. I am calling on the SCRD to provide much more data on our full “water picture”. How much water do we have remaining in both of the alpine lakes (to date, the numbers provided have been for just Chapman Lake), what is the operating status...
Cooling Centres Open

With a heat warning in effect, the SCRD has opened two cooling centres:
- Sechelt: Sechelt Aquatic Centre (5500 Shorncliffe Ave) 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.
- Gibsons: Gibsons & Area Community Centre (700 Park Road) 6 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Shopping malls, libraries and shaded green spaces also make for great options. Please check on your neighbours and friends while the heat warning is in effect.

ON NOW: Stage 3 Water Restrictions

Stage 3 water restrictions is now active in Sechelt. This is an acute level, one stage before a full ban on all outside watering. Please continue to conserve water - efforts from residents and visitors make a BIG difference! The following is NOT permitted during Stage 3:
- No sprinklers, soaker hoses or micro spray
- No washing sidewalks, driveways, windows, fences or exterior building surfaces
- No filling swimming pools, hot tubs/spas, garden ponds, fountains
Wakefield Beach Access Closed

The beach access at the end of Wakefield Road is closed as the sewage lift station in this area undergoes replacement. Crews and equipment will be working for the next few months with project completion expected in winter 2023. Please obey all signage and crews.
